My Mother (6-17-10)

19 years ago today, my Mother died of lung cancer. I miss her still. You just never forget those kind of dates. My Dad died in October, also of lung cancer, but mostly of a broken heart....

The musical rehearsal went well tonight and we will all be glad when it is finished. OKLAHOMA is a fun gig and I am doing a bit part of speaking and singing and then in the second act I am playing second trumpet in the orchestra.

I finished my last test today for my grad school class on Introduction to Gifted Education. It has been a great time of learning....and I cannot wait to apply those newfound ideas this fall....

Our anniversary is Saturday and I am looking forward to spending some fun time with Wyman. So far he has given me a dozen red roses and I have given him a sewing machine and two Scotch pine trees....:)

Well, I will close for now, just saying it is a privilege to be a wife and mother and teacher....all three things I really wanted to be. It's a blessing to be fulfilled in your life with your heart's desire. God has blessed my life in so many ways. Even when my parents died and my brother just before Mother, I could know He was with me and caring for me. In the musical, there is a death of the hired hand, Jud, and the auntie says that Laurey has to be tough...I was thinking the death of your parents doesn't make you tough, but just more grown up quicker....

June 16, 2010

Ah, a new adventure..... my own blog....in my own corner of the world. I shall call it a nook as it will have assorted posts of pictures, recipes, devos, thoughts, and tidbits of learning.

Thank you to my friend, Gayle, for inspiring me to do such an endeavor. And to the motivation provided on Julie and Julia as they cooked through a French cookbook....I am doing the same sort of thing with my WW cookbook from Mother's Day....cooking through it and savoring the tastes of healthy foods.... :)

I am studying like a fiend this week as my first online class comes to a close on Gifted Education. I am now working towards a Master's degree with an emphasis on TAG and ELL.

This weekend is the OKLAHOMA musical at Danville in which I have a small part in ACT I and then play second trumpet for Act II. :) Singing in a musical on stage is a real s-t-r-e-t-c-h for me! :)

We are still grieving the loss of John Carter who was promoted to Heaven last Wednesday...a week ago today. Also, still praying for Carissa Subra to have a new heart provided miraculously and very soon. She is 24th on the heart transplant list....

I am off to mow the lawn, practice my lines, and study for my final test -- so this is it, from Nancy's Nook for today. :)
